A U-Haul pulled up in front of a small house in Littleroot town, Hoenn. a tall, blonde haired boy with dark green eyes got out of the back.
"Lime! you're finally here!" His mom said excitedly. "The machoke will unpack the rest of our stuff. You should go make sure that everything is in your room. Also make sure to set your clock."
"How come you drove here, yet I had to ride in the back of a U-Haul?" Lime asked.
"Because you took too long packing. We're on a tight schedule you know."
"I was packing your crap! I took like 5 minutes to gather my things and put them in the car! You told me to put your things in the U-haul, and then you drove off!"
"How about you just be happy that you're here now?" Lime's mom said.
"whatever." Lime replied. and with that, he went upstairs and set his clock. All of his stuff was in his room, except for his autographed pokemon league trading card of former Indigo League champion Red. He didn't expect his dad to remember something so little though, He was too busy being a gym leader.
"Quick Lime! come down here! Your dad is on TV!" Lime heard his mom call from downstairs.
"I don't care! I'm going to go see our new neighbors." lime replied.
Lime walked over to the house next to his and knocked on the door.
The door was opened by a happy looking, middle-aged woman. "You must be the new neighbor! I bet that you'll get along great with Vera! why don't you go upstairs and meet her."
Lime headed up the stairs. They led to a room where he saw a girl his age busily packing potions, pokeballs, and other Pokemon supplies. (A/N: She looks exactly like May except her shirt, bandanna, and shoes are dark green.)
The girl looked up and noticed Lime. "Hi! my name is Primavera, but you can call me Vera. You've probably heard of my twin sister, May Birch, top coordinator of Hoenn. What's your name?"
"My name is Lime. My family just moved here because my dad got a job here."
"Oh what does your dad do?" Asked Vera.
"He's the Petalburg City Gym Leader." replied Lime.
"Cool! My dad is the Pokemon professor of this region. I moved here from Johto to recieve a starter Pokemon from him. I want to start a new Pokemon journey after coming so close to winning the Indigo League. My Meganium was defeated by his last Dragonite."
"My parents won't let me go on a Pokemon journey." Lime said sadly. "They think it's too dangerous because so many members of our family have almost died during their journey. They think that I'm weak."
Vera comforted him. "I bet one day you'll get to go on a journey. If you try hard, you could even be more powerful than Red! Of course, you would have to beat me too, because that's my dream: to be the most powerful Pokemon master to have ever lived! I have to go now. a journey doesn't start itself!"
After Vera left, Lime decided to explore the town. Suddenly, here heard someone calling for help. He ran over and saw a man in a white lab coat getting chased by a zigzagoon.
"Quick!" The man yelled. "take a Pokemon out of that briefcase and defeat this rabid Zigzagoon!"
Lime was pretty sure that any level 5 starter Pokemon could defeat a level 2 zigzagoon, so he grabbed a pokeball without thinking and threw it. A Mudkip emerged from the ball, and in less than a minute Lime had kicked the zigzagoon's ass.
"great fighting!" said the man. "I'm Professor Birch. Let's head over to my lab. and bring that Mudkip."
Once they were in the lab (Vera was also there), Birch told Lime that he could keep the Mudkip.
"Would you like to name your new mudkip?"Asked Birch.
"I swear if my name is an internet reference I will fu-"
"I'll call him Jet." said Lime.
"Sweet! That's so freaking badass!" said Jet. (A/N: Pokemon talk. don't ask how.)
"Now you can finally go on a journey!" Vera said excitedly. "I'm gonna go look for new Pokemon. You should come fight me!" And with that, Vera ran off.
"I'll go get your Pokedex." said Birch.
"No. I don't want a Pokedex. I want a Nuzlocke brace."
Birch looked shocked. "Those are dangerous! you'll be putting yourself and your Pokemon in danger!"
"I need to go on a Nuzlocke journey." said Lime. "I want to prove to my family and to the world that I'm powerful. If I complete the Nuzlocke challenge, then I will be the second trainer of Hoenn to do so, the first being my father."
"Fine." said Birch. He gave Lime a golden bracelet that had the words "Never forget" written on it. Lime but it on his wrist and hid it under the sleeve of his coat.
"I will now review the rules of Nuzlocke to you." said Birch. "1: While wearing the brace, pokeballs will only work if you are battling the first Pokemon that you find in an area that you do not yet have. 2: If one of your Pokemon faints, it will die. 3: If your entire party dies, the brace will detonate and kill you. 4: The only way to take the brace off is to get the Nuzlocke badge by defeating the champion."
Before Lime left, Vera came running back in and gave Lime 5 pokeballs. She didn't notice the worried expression on her dad's face.
On his way to route 101, Lime stopped at house to put on his running shoes.
"what do you need those for?" He heard his mom ask.
"I'm gonna go hang out with the neighbors." He answered.
"Oh I'm glad your making friends already! just be careful!"
Lime ran through route 101, catching a Wurmple he named Dale before arriving at Oldale Town. He didn't spend much time there, He just healed Jet and recieved a potion from a guy who works at the pokemart. Route 102 was blocked by a crazy person who thought he saw Pokemon footprints, So Lime went straight for 103.
"Oh you made it!" Vera quit training to say hi to Lime. "How about you have your first Pokemon battle!"
"Stay calm." Lime thought to himself. "You have 2 Pokemon, and she only has 1. You are going to survive this battle, and Jet will to."
"Go Jet!" The mudkip appeared in a flash of light.
"Go treecko!" Vera's Treecko was released from his pokeball.
"Jet! let's start be lowering the enemy's accuracy! use mud-slap!"
Jet launched mud a treecko, doing little damage but hindering his eyesight.
"Treecko! use pound!"
Treecko slapped the air around Jet.
"Jet! use tackle!"
"Treecko! Try pounding again!"
Treecko kept missing (after hitting once, Lime had Jet use mud-slap again), and so, Lime won.
"Vera congratulated him. "great job Lime! I think you have what it takes!"
"I hope we get to fight again." said Lime.
Vera ran off to heal her Pokemon, while Lime began making his way towards Petalburg City. He had a long and dangerous journey ahead, but he was determined to win the Nuzlocke challenge.
